Privacy
Short version: this site counts visits without cookies and without keeping anything that identifies you, and it collects your details only if you fill in the contact form, to reply to you.
What is collected
If you use the contact form, the name, email, phone number, business name, website address and message you type are sent to me so I can answer.
Visits are counted by Steadfast Analytics, the visit counter I run for this site and the sites I build. When a page loads, a few lines of script on this site send this site, and no one else, the page address, the name of the site that linked you here (for example google.com, not the full link), any campaign tags in the link, and whether the window is phone, tablet or desktop sized. Tapping a phone, text or email link, or sending the form, is counted the same way. Your country is read from the network connection.
To count one visitor once a day rather than once per page, the counter scrambles your IP address and browser name together with a random value that is replaced every day, and keeps only the scrambled result. Your IP address and browser name are not stored, and once the day's random value is deleted, the result can no longer be matched to you or to any other day. Counts are kept for as long as this site uses the counter, and deleted if it stops.
That is all. No cookie is set and nothing is saved on your device. There is no advertising pixel and no Google Analytics, and the site loads nothing from third parties: no fonts, no scripts, no embeds.
How it is used
Your messages are used to reply to you and, if we work together, to do the work. Visit counts are used to see which pages help people and where visitors come from. Your details are not added to a mailing list, sold, or shared with anyone, other than the services that deliver the message to my inbox, which handle it only for that purpose.
Where it goes
The form is delivered by email to support@steadfastcode.tech. The site itself is static files served from a content delivery network, which keeps ordinary server logs (IP address, pages requested, browser) for security and operations the way any web server does. Visit counts are stored in a database on Cloudflare, which also serves the site, and are not shared or sold.
Your choices
If you would rather not be counted at all, turning off JavaScript for this site stops it, and the site works the same without it. You can email me instead of using the form, and you can ask me to delete anything you sent at any time by writing to support@steadfastcode.tech.
Client sites
Websites I build for clients have their own privacy policies, written for what those sites actually do. Every site on one of my care plans gets the same cookieless visit counting as this one, described in its own privacy notice, and no other tracking unless the owner decides they need it and the notice says so.
